IV Micronutrient Therapy

John Myers, MD, a physician from Baltimore, MD pioneered the use of intravenous vitamins and minerals. The original Myers’ Cocktail contained magnesium chloride, calcium gluconate, thiamine, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B complex, and vitamin C. Since then, his work has been expanded upon and used by of 1000’s of patients for decades. While a modified Myers’ Cocktail is still used frequently, we now use many other IV nutrients including but not limited to glutathione (the body’s master antioxidant) and NAD+ (a coenzyme needed by the body to produce energy, combat cellular aging, help maintain healthy DNA, and maintain hundreds of integral processes in the body).

Intravenous delivery of nutrients allows one to achieve blood concentrations not attainable with oral or intramuscular administration. Since various nutrients have known pharmacological effects, many of which are dependent on the concentration of the nutrient, one can see the benefit of a modality that allows for higher blood levels.

IV therapy has been successfully used in the treatment of: asthma exacerbation, migraine headache, tension headache, fatigue, fibromyalgia, depression, upper respiratory tract infection, chronic urticaria (hives), seasonal allergic rhinitis, thyroid disease, acute muscle spasm, cardiovascular disease, etc. It has also been used widely for immune support, to improve athletic performance and for anti-aging.
